SEIA 301

The SEIA 301 operations and maintenance technician training standard applies to employers and trainers of technicians, from entry level through advanced levels of experience, employed in operations and maintenance of solar and/or energy storage projects associated with the residential, commercial and industrial (C&I), and utility market segments.

Sample guidelines include capabilities, activities, and competencies of O&M technicians classified from Level 1 to Level 4. Level 1 technicians generally require supervision and can begin to perform tasks autonomously, such as identifying system voltages, as they demonstrate competence. Level 4 technicians, having demonstrated competencies across all lower levels, can provide expert technical guidance on safety, electrical photovoltaic (PV) theory, professional development, and O&M.
