The SEIA 101 supply chain traceability standard covers requirements for identifying the source of a product’s material inputs and tracing their movement through the supply chain. To comply, an organization must provide evidence of due diligence, data collection and analysis, and a traceability management program that addresses supply chain risk and facilitates cooperation with regulators, auditors, and other interested parties.
The traceability standard lists the types of documents needed to trace a product back to raw materials, such as transactions between the final product manufacturer and the importer of record, transactions between component manufacturers and the final product manufacturer, transactions between raw material miners and manufacturers, and more. The standard also includes best practices and lessons learned about product detentions associated with the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA), a law that bars U.S. entities from funding forced labor by Uyghurs, an ethnic minority group in northwest China.
